Watson arrived at the Hotel as a stray, along with another dog. It was immediately clear that there was an issue with his eyes, and that he was in a lot of discomfort. During his first visit to the Hotel’s vet, he was diagnosed with entropion in both eyes. This is a painful condition where the eyelid rolls inwards and rubs the eyeball. As you can imagine, this is very uncomfortable, and left untreated can cause eye ulcers.
Watson needed corrective surgery, which we of course agreed to fund. Whist he waited for his operation date, he spent time with our behaviour team, who helped him to build his confidence through freework and socialisation. This meant that he was more comfortable around people and touch, which would be vital during his recovery.
Watson had his operation at the Rescue Hotel Health Centre. Once he was under anaesthetic, the vet could see that his condition was even more severe than first thought. He required surgery on all four eyelids, and we were able to immediately say yes to the additional costs. Thankfully the procedure went smoothly, and we could see the difference it had made straight away!
Watson then recovered under the care of the Home, and soon enough he trotted off with his new family. Thanks to your support and donations, we are able to fund lifechanging operations for dogs such as Watson, and we can say yes to any additional care they may need.
