Apricot – April at the Health Centre

Apricot arrived at the Hotel as a stray, with an unkempt coat and suffering from a flea allergy. Like all of our residents, she went for a first check with our onsite vet, and after examination he suspected that she was suffering from a ruptured cruciate ligament.

A cruciate ligament rupture means that the ligament which connects the femur (thigh bone) to the tibia (shin bone) is weakened, allowing the joint to slip out of place. This has to be corrected surgically.

We agreed to fund diagnostic x-rays, and thanks to the fantastic team at Vale Veterinary Centre, Apricot was then able to have her operation the same day. We said yes immediately to funding the surgery, as it was in her best interests to get it done straight away so she could begin the road to recovery. She is now spending time as our “office dog” so that she can receive around the clock care from the kennel staff, and is starting to build up her strength on short toilet breaks. Her playful side is starting to come out, and she loves belly rubs!

Without your support, we would not be able to fund life saving surgeries for dogs like Apricot. If you are able to donate to help with the cost of her operation, and to help us care for all stray and abandoned dogs in Cardiff, please click the link below.
